There is a multi-storey continuous 2-D frame as shown in Figure Q1, with 356368153 UC in Grade S275 as column and 35617167 UB in Grade S275 as beams. The beams are under uniformly distributed loads along span, with the dead load of 4kNm and live load of 9kNm. The member connection of frame is assumed rigid, and its bases are pinned to the ground.
Please:
a) Identify the frame is sway or non-sway.
b) Assuming the frame is sway, please check the axial compressive resistance of the column in the 2nd storey as circled in Figure.
Notes: Out-of-plane deformation of the frame is restrained.
