Question 1:Chapter 1 of our text discusses the difference between the civil and criminal law systems. They have different aims, and when they intersect there is often friction. For example, an ongoing Portland case involves a missing child, Kyron Horman. It has been widely speculated that Kyron's stepmother is a possible suspect in his disappearance. Kyron's father apparently believes this and unsurprisingly has been trying to obtain a divorce from the stepmother. The divorce was put on "hold" for over three years because of concerns that the civil divorce trial might put the criminal investigation at risk. Research the history of the divorce case, starting with this article, and describe the conflicts between the criminal and civil systems that it reveals. How were these conflicts resolved, if at all?
