Question 2 (20 marks) At the end of a processing

Question 2 (20 marks) At the end of a processing line in an organic flour mill, bags of flour are checked to establish the weight of the contents. The design specification for the weight the filling machine places in the bags is 1000 grams (1 kg) +/- 15 grams (also referred to as tolerance limits). These specifications have been set to ensure there is a very low probability of having the actual contents in the bags less than the value stated on the label of 1000 grams (1 kg). A new bag filling machine has just been installed so the production manager has decided to construct new control charts to monitor the production process. The sample size used is 4; i.e. each sample includes measuring the weight of 4 bags of flour. The data is provided in an Excel file on ACORN (and on the reverse side of this sheet). (a) Based on the 15 samples tabulated below, provide the complete analysis required to construct statistical process control charts for the process (using three-sigma control limits). (14 points) (b) is the process capable of meeting the design specifications of 1000 grams +/- 15 grams? Explain why or why not.
