Part a

A simply supported $8$ m long concrete beam is $200$ mm wide and is $500$ mm deep. There is an imposed load on the beam of $7\mathrm{.}5k\frac{N}{m}$ as well as a $1000$ kg central point load. Sketch the overall loading situation on the beam. $($Assume the density of concrete is $2500k\frac{g}{m^3}.)$

For the beam described in part a$,$ calculate the maximum tensile stress.

Comment on the value of stress that you calculate for this beam.
