QUesTION $2$: $($Sawn Timber Beam$)$

Design a single member sawn timber beam, $B2,$ which is part of a floor system. Beam $B2$ is simply supported, bearing on columns that are $350mm$ wide. The floor supports a dead load of $1\mathrm{.}0k\frac{N}{m^2}$ and a live load of $2\mathrm{.}4k\frac{N}{m^2}.$

Assume that the beams are subject to dry service conditions, standard load duration and no treatment. The Project Manager has specified the deflection criteria as L$/240$ for Total Load, and L$/360$ for Live Load.
