Sunny Day Bakery is a company that produces baked goods for southern Ontario. The company has a manufacturing plant in Mississauga, Ontario that employs 8,000 unionized workers represented by the Baking and Confectionary Workers' Union (BCWU), Local 3000. Two months ago, the company and the union began collective bargaining with the hope of negotiating a new collective agreement that would satisfy both parties' interests. Unfortunately, both sides have not made much progress. Approximately one month ago, the union conducted a strike mandate vote in which 71% of employees voted in favour of a strike, if needed. More recently, the Ontario Ministry of Labour appointed a conciliation officer to meet with both parties. Both parties then also met with a mediator to assist with these negotiations. Given the lack of progress in these negotiations, Sunny Day's unionized employees went on strike. However, the strike was short in duration because the company and the union were able to negotiate a new tentative collective agreement. The tentative agreement was then approved through a ratification vote conducted by the Union
