a.'As constructed' plans, documents and files are supplied to local government authorities upon completion of civil works for land development. Discuss the typical survey requirements for
undertaking 'as constructed surveys' (during the course of construction) including, (i) method and checks (15 marks),(ii) accuracies (15 marks) and (iii) the necessary relevant 'as-constructed' capture feature requirements (30 marks) for a sewage line in an urban subdivision, for provision for a typical local authority. (60 marks total)
b. It is proposed to intersect two grade lines to construct pedestrian/cycle way over a river. The distance between the Points 2 and 3 is 300 m and the grade reduced levels are as follows: Point 2=
2
98.000 m , Point 3=95.000m. The first grade is to be calculated from a Point 1 at a reduced level of 95.500m,250 metres behind Point 2. The second grade is to be calculated from a Point 4 at a reduced level of 91.500m,150 metres beyond Point 3.
(i) Calculate the grades to intersect Points 1 and 2 with Points 3 and 4, the reduced level of the intersection point, the distances of the intersection point from Points 2 and 3. Confirm and check the accuracy of your calculations, document all working and answers. (30 marks)
(ii) Calculate the length of vertical curve based upon an allowable rate of change of 0.5% per 20 m of length and nominate a proposed length of vertical curve based upon an even 20 m interval. (10 marks)(40 marks total)
