For Saudi Arabia, 2000 domestic fires were caused by ovens in 2016. As a solution, it was proposed to design gas & oven cookers with built-in automatic shutdown systems to protect lives and property. This shut-down system will prevent house fires caused by gas cookers, and put out these fires if they occur. There will be two shutdown systems. The first will use a timer to shut down the cooker. The user will set a timer for how long it takes to cook, and the timer will automatically shut down the gas cooker, once the set cooking time elapses. The second shutdown system will shut down the cooker if the temperature exceeds 300 C, unless the user changes the time limit. This second shutdown system will use a thermostat which will be activated once the temperature exceeds 5% of set temperature. The cost of this cooker must not exceed 2500 SR. It should last for a minimum of 10 years. It will integrate a fire extinguisher system using dry CO2. It is intended that the timer will be digital for ease of use. Warning systems should be integrated such as an audible alarm system, or any other method to warn users of increased temperature, such as text message, if the temperature approaches 2% of set temperature.
