QUESTION 3 (25 marks) Read the following and then answer the question below. A company that has various branches across the country hires you as Communications Officer and this is one company that you have always wanted to work for. You are directly working at the Head Office in Gaborone and your first experience as an employee is that every employee communicates to each other in many different languages. Some speak to you in English, some in Setswana, some Sekgalagadi, some Ikalanga, some Mbukushu, some Africans, some Sebirwa, some Setswapong etc. This you get to realise after you ask the person speaking to you what that language is. Some speak loud, some very low, some continuously and leave your site immediately after they finish speaking. Unfortunately for you, the only language you are conversant with is English and every time these other languages are used in communicating with you, in order for you to understand the message you have to engage a lot of people. This is a frustration to you, and you do not enjoy your work, but in your little observation you realise that everybody could easily understand English and Setswana. The Managing Director gives you the task to show the rest of the employees the dangers of barrier to communication. a) Explain to the rest of your colleagues what barriers to communication is and how they can be a threat to any business set up.
