Case study A

You are a manger of one way Limited a service provider in the mining industry at a recent management meeting, concerns were raised about the extent of unethical behaviour in the industry, but alarmingly also in the business it appears that bribes have to be paid in order to secure large contracts. Write a report to the Board of Directors in which you address the problem of unethical behaviour in business. in your report you should refer to the economic impact of fraud on the business as well as on the economy and society and proposals on how to fight fraud in the company.

Case study B

Hartford and Sons ltd is company which imports fine. Italian furniture and manufactures lower price furniture and manufacture lower priced furniture for the local market. Hartford and Sons has been a family-run business for two generations, but were listed on the Johannesburg stock Exchange three months ago. the listing was very successful and all shares offered were rapidly taken up by the public. The CEO Ms Pineas, grandson of the original founder is very proud of his company and has been the CEO for a number of years.
