During the construction of a warehouse for a harbour, a shutter panel on the back of the wall was kicked out of position resulting in metres of the wall section being mm thicker at its base. In addition, honeycombing of the concrete occurred.
The Employer's Agent's Representative on the site instructed the Contractor to break down and replace that section of the wall, arguing that the reinforcement will be subject to salt and sea air and will rust, making the wall structurally unacceptable. The Contractor does not agree with this decision.
