Question: Question 4 Compare the total annual C O 2 emissions of a coal - fired power plant to those of a natural gas - fired

Question 4
Compare the total annual CO2 emissions of a coal-fired power plant to those of a natural gas-fired power plant with the same power generation capacity, assuming (1) the power generation efficiency of the coal-fired power plant is 39.12%,whereas the power generation efficiency of the gas-fired power plant is 48.25%,
(2) annually, each power plant produces 7450 hours of electricity at its capacity of 2000MW,
(3) the heating value of the coal is 30.55MJ/kg and the carbon content of the coal is 70.83wt%,
(4) natural gas is assumed to be the mixture of 94.45vol% of CH4 and 5.55 vol% of C3H8. The heating values of CH4 and C3H8 are known to be
50.10MJ/kg and 46.36MJ/kg respectively. . The molecular weights of C,H and O are to be taken as 12,1 and 16,respectively.
