Question 1
In this situation, there are two design prototypes such as design A and design B. I have to make the final decision for this situation. I will be using the six steps of decision making explaining which design by assessing satisfaction level. At the end of this assessment, I will be announcing which design is the greater one.
Step one is defining what decision needs to be made. In the case, it is about which design prototypes has more satisfaction.
Step two is specifying decision criteria. There are five dimensions for both of the design prototypes. Including, aesthetics, technical performance, easiness-to-control, multi-functionality, and ergonomics. These are relevant to the making of the decision.
Step three, allocating weights to the criteria. Based on the information, aesthetics is 0.1, technical performance 0.3, easiness-to-control 0.2, multi-functionality 0.3, and ergonomics would be 0.1. The total weight is equal to 1 respectively.
Step four, I need to develop viable alternatives. There are two design prototypes of the new EV car, design A and Design B. The weight of design A are 7,8,7,7,6 points, and design B points are 5,7,8,7,8.
Step five, I will be analyzing alternatives. Assessing the satisfaction level on price & quality with a 10-point Likert scale.
A
aesthetics, 0.7
technical performance 2.4
easiness-to-control 1.4
multi-functionality, 1.4
Ergonomic 1.8
Total=7.2
B
aesthetics, 0.5
technical performance 2.1
easiness-to-control 1.6
multi-functionality, 2.1
Ergonomic 0.8
Total=7.1
Based on the assessment, design A has the most point for the satisfaction level.
Step six, it is selecting the alternatives with the highest value. In this case, between design A and design B, design A would be having the highest value. As a result, design A was selected.
