QUESTION 5 (15) Read the following case extract and answer ALL questions that follow. As part of a post-merger audit of a recently merged Johannesburg-based software company, Frontier Technologies Ltd, the human resources manager wants to scrap one of two legacy graduate internship training programmes. The human resources manager has resolved that the decision to scrap one of two legacy training programmes for computer science interns should be evidence-driven. The human resources manager of the company is of the opinion that a group of sixty (60) computer science graduates recently recruited into its graduate internship programme should be randomly assigned to the two graduate internship programmes for the purpose of evaluating their relative efficacies and merits. At the beginning of the internship, a standardized high performance computing (HPC) test was administered to all the interns to establish their baseline competencies and their scores were recorded (pre_train_score). Each of the sixty (60) interns were then randomly allocated to one of the two legacy training programmes, Hunters and Gatherers, to undergo a four-month intensive training in high performance computing. At the end of the training, the interns were again tested on the standardized high performance computing test and their scores were once again captured (post_train_score).
