QUESTION ONE B-TWO-B CONSTRUCTION CASE The B-TWO-B Construction Company is a large company that specializes in industrial and government construction projects. The company bids on only the largest projects at premium prices and tends to get its fair share because it has gained a reputation for doing work of outstanding quality within the time constraints of its contracts. B-TWO-B is now in the process of bidding on the construction of an addition to the University of Lusaka football stadium, a project that will go for about ZMK 20 million. The only problem is that the project falls at a time when B-TWO-B has won several other large contracts and does not want to overextend itself and spread its resources too thin. If the project could be completed within 300 days of the beginning of the project, the company would feel confident in pursuing the contract. The cost estimator for B-TWO-B has developed the estimates of activity durations and their precedence relationships that are shown in the table below. Activity Description a b C d Demolish and salvage existing structures Evacuate and grade site Pour concrete footings and foundations Install in-ground plumbing Preceding Activity Activity Time a b b 10 15 17 20 n O р q r S t u V W Preassemble top level steel skeleton Erect top level steel skaleton Erect top level concrete columns and cross beams Pour top level floors Construct press box complex Erect field lights Construct rest rooms Install seats Paint and finish walls, floors, and ceilings Clean up structure and grounds Given the above information; i m, n O Р q р m, n q u V 14 23 36 37 45 14 48 21 14 7 (a) Draw a CPM network for the project.
