RE: Unit 5.3 DB: Living Wage item options
COLLAPSE
Ask,
This writer felt you did an excellent job on this post and provided a lot of incite and information. With the minimum wage set at $7.25 and hour and the projected living wage being around $15.00 an hour, there is no wonder there are so many people struggling to make ends meet today (U.S. Department of Labor, 2023). Another concern of this writer mirrors what you mentioned about companies such as Walmart. These companies hire employees at minimal wages and only work them enough hours to avoid paying benefits. This results in the workers continuing to need to rely on social assistance to meet basic needs. Larger corporations, one would assume, should be able to afford to provide a living wage for its employees. Instead, they are scheduled just below the cut off point of being able to qualify for the benefits that the companies advertise when seeking employees.
