You are asked to submit a complete preliminary reactor system design in this project. Teams will prepare a final project report as complete as possible including a detailed description of your recommended process and specification of the reactor system. Feed conditions are given below. In the project work, the following tasks should be performed in the preparation of final process design:
a Carry out a literature survey for water gas shift reaction.
b Search for the catalysts used in water gas shift reaction.
c Search for the data on reaction kinetics and specify the rate expression that you will use in the design of the converter.
d Collect data for the thermodynamics of the system.
e Plot equilibrium conversion as a function of temperature graph
f Draw the constant reaction rate curves on the same diagram.
g Make a decision about reactor configurations and operational conditions.
h Give your reasoning in selecting the reactor temperature, pressure, feed conditions, etc.
i Complete the design equations write down material and energy balances for the reactor system you have chosen. Make a decision about the optimum operation of this reactor system.
j Give your design procedure and complete your design.
k After completion of reactor design, formal report will be prepared according to the proper report format and will be submitted on or before due date.
