This is further supported by the recent survey conducted by Robert Walters that positive recruitment activities are seen in 2018 and is expected to continue over the years. Apart from the various benefits, online recruitment has its own share of shortcomings and disadvantages. There is a gap as to whether organizations are complying with the traditional stages recruitment process. Thus, it this is necessary to understand the effectiveness of online recruitment through online platforms as a social networking or professional networking medium specifically in Klang Valley.

LinkedIn (2016) is proved to be the worlds largest professional network with more than 400 million members around the globe after one month of its operation. Typically, the quality of people hired is the key for measuring the effectiveness of the employment function, but in certain circumstances, the speed of hiring may actually be a more significant contributor to quality hiring.

Employers have proven its willingness to use at least one form of social media in the recruitment process with 64% affirms to have viewed a job seekers professional social network profile at some point for this purpose.
