Question:
Read Genesis 41:33-56
Only after years in prison, was Joseph used by the Lord. God's time for the saving preservation and expansion of his people is in His timing. If the chief butler had spoken up for Joseph and had obtained release, it is probable that Joseph would have gone back to the land of the Hebrews. Had he done so, then he would have neither been so blessed himself nor been such a blessing to his family. Staying in prison two years longer and being released on this occasion to interpret Pharaoh’s dreams, though he may not have chosen it for himself, was for his betterment. For your initial post, consider your experiences with waiting on God’s timing and respond to the following:
Joseph was poised to bring blessing to God’s people after years of false imprisonment, abandonment, and trials. He had been forgotten in prison, but God had all the timing worked out so that he was released at just the right time for the blessing of God’s people. Have you ever experienced opportunities or blessings from God after a period of waiting?
What were your thoughts and feelings in the waiting? And then after God’s blessing was revealed?
How does this perspective on timing differ from a more “worldly” perspective, particularly as it relates in the world of finance?
Cite examples both positive and negative of this playing out.
Have you ever reluctantly accepted a task only to find out it uniquely prepared you for a challenge and opportunity?
