Read the article, Authentic Leadership: What It Is, Why It Matters and then answer the following questions using complete and grammatically correct sentences. You need to show that you understand the information.
Each question should give credit to the author within the sentence orwithan in-text citation at the end.
What is the authors main point? Or, what is it that the author is trying to suggest besides the title of the paper? (3 marks, 1-3 Sentences min.)
What, as the author suggests, are some concerns one should be aware of when in the workplace? Particularly, what things should be we be conscious of especially when being true to ourselves? (4 marks, 2-4 sentences min.)
In your own words, describe what authenticity means as it pertains to the article. How can being yourself both positively and negatively affect those around you? What risks do we inherently accept when we operate from an authentic position? (5 marks, 3-5 sentences min.)
Part 2
Consider this statement:
Existentialist thinkers believe that authenticity, as modern literature describes it, is false, as it is largely untheorized and founded on principles of appeasement rather than self-fulfillment. Further, they claim that there is a need for consideration of context; something existentialists call Being-in-the-World: where each individual is situated in her/his own world, without a separate and private or true self. We exist in a context, variable over time and can never be separate from this. We must always interact with people, events, etc. and cannot be disinterested spectators of our own particular context. We are compelled to engage with it even if we would rather not (Lawler, J. A.2012).
From reading the article and the above statement, what are your thoughts on authenticity? Asking yourself the following questions, create your response. Does it hold merit? Is it advantageous to consider your place and your interactions with others? Or perhaps is it arbitrary? If you do side with the existentialists, are there any benefits besides monetarily why one would choose to act in accordance with authenticity? (8 marks, 5-7 sentences)
