The project that I chose is the WISEWOMAN program. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) implemented a Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation for women across the nation called WISEWOMAN. The WISEWOMAN program serves the uninsured, under insured, and low-income women ages 40-64 years of age. The WISEWOMAN program was implemented to help Hispanic women in Connecticut, to understand and reduce their risk for stroke and heart disease by providing services to promote heart-healthy lifestyles. The program offers blood pressure screenings, cholesterol screenings, individual health coaching, and other community resources. The screenings are free of charge. The WISEWOMAN program uses a team-based care approach, which includes the patient and the primary care provider, community health workers, pharmacists, to provide care for patients with high blood pressure and other risk factors (CDC, 20220).

The program is in the early stages of development and the short and long-term health outcomes targeted by this program are to reduce the risk of heart disease, educate women on heart disease, and to improve the quality of life for women. Increase connections to WISEWOMAN services by enrolling WISEWOMAN participants to the University school of Pharmacy, community pharmacists, and Consulting Center at Yale (CDC, 2022).

Mix-methods evaluations can strengthen and give a better understanding of the evaluation design. The evaluators can validate the results from one method with findings from the other method. Findings from qualitative and quantitative data sources can be compared after collecting both types of data. Mixed methods are beneficial in an evaluation design. The purpose is to strengthen reliability of data (Bamberger, 2012). The weaknesses of mixed-methods evaluations can be very expensive and can be difficult for a single researcher to carry out both qualitative and quantitative research (Bamberger, 2012).
