Considering the massive amount of data collected by home genealogical companies such as 23 & Me or AncestryDNA, discuss some of the pitfalls to individual privacy rights posed by a third party possessing such a valuable mass of information on each subscriber. Would it be ethical for one of these companies to sell this information to insurance companies who might then use the information to deny medical coverage to an individual based on genetic predispositions? Should there be laws limiting what a company can do with information gathered for a specific purpose?
