Read the case and answer the questions below: Telco, is one of the leading Indian IT companies. Telco's compensation management system was created on the EVA (economic value added) model. With the application of Economic Value Added (EVA)-based compensation, the salary of employees included two parts - fixed and variable. The salary's variable part was arrived after taking into account the business unit EVA, individual performance EVA, and also corporate EVA. During the third quarter of the financial year (FY) 2008-2009, Telco stated its plans to slash 1.3 percent of the variable part of employee salaries since its EVA targets for the fourth quarter of FY 2008-2009 were not fulfilled.
