INSTRUCTION

You were asked to conduct formal research to try and solve the problem which is

experienced on all five campuses of PMI.

The National Academic Committee Chairperson informed you that the campuses are

situated in Johannesburg, Durban, Uitenhage, Cape Town and East London. You were

asked to use a mixed approach in the research.

Online and$/$or distance learning during COVID$-19$ Lockdown in PMI

The COVID$-19$ pandemic forced PMI to stop offering all training on campus. The Council on

Higher Education $($CHE$)$ has specific criteria for the accreditation of a private Higher Education

institution. PMI is accredited to offer contact learning $($face$-$to$-$face in class$).$ The Department

of Higher Education and Training $($DHET$)$ and the CHE allowed the lifting of all restrictions on

the ways that higher education institutions offer learning during the lockdown period to ensure

that the students can still continue their studies.

As a member of the student representative council you have been tasked to do research on the

students$$ readiness to start online and$/$or distance learning activities. You have to determine

whether the students will have the necessary resources needed to study through

online$/$distance learning. You also have to determine other possible problems that the students

may have studying in this way. You were asked to create a questionnaire to use in the survey

that will be distributed to all campuses.

After completing the research you have to compile a report that PMI can use to ensure student

satisfaction during the Lockdown period.
