1. Mukesh Am bani buys Big Bazaar: Future Group's retail, wholesale, logistic biz sold to Reliance Retail. Financial Express, Aug 29, 2020 In a statement, Reliance said, "Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL), subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd will acquire the retail and wholesale business and the logistics and warehousing business from the Future Group as going concerns on a slump sale basis for lumpsum aggregate consideration of INR 24,713 crore.\" After this acquisition, Reliance Retail will control and own Future Group's Big Bazaar, FBB, Easyday, Central, Foodhall formats, across India. There are around 1800 stores of these brands, across 420 Indian cities. Reliance Retail has almost 12,000 stores under its wing, with an annual revenue of over Rs.1.6 lakh crore. Mukesh Ambani with his deep pockets has built stores in the length and breadth of the country but most of the money (61%) comes in through consumer electronics. Grocery currently accounts for just 8% of Reliance Retail's revenue but it's also the highest growing segment, clocking a Y-o-Y growth rate of 48%. In contrast, consumer electronics is showing a growth of 14% and Fashion and Lifestyle at 24% Y-o-Y. RIL in a press release said that the acquisition of the retail, wholesale and supply chain business of the Future Group will complement and make a strong strategic fit into Reliance's retail business. The company believes that this acquisition will help Reliance retail to accelerate providing support to millions of small merchants in increasing their competitiveness and enhance their income during these challenging times. lsha Ambani, Director, Reliance Retail said, "Pleased to provide a home to the renowned formats and brands of Future Group.\
