Read through and choose two of your classmate's posts. While we are interested in protecting primates, researchers have to be careful not to overly anthropomorphize non-human animals. When we anthropomorphize other creatures, we attribute human beliefs and motivations to their actions. In your replies, try to provide a possible evolutionary reason why humans and Great Apes might both like cooked food or have a tendency to form close friendships?
Hello class, | was honestly shocked watching the first videothe fact that the ape could use matches, collect firewood, and start a fire on its own was wild. Seeing it roast a marshmallow on a stick like a human was not only surprising, but kind of adorable. It really made me think about how intelligent they are in ways we don't usually expect. The second video was super sweet. Watching the reunion between the monkey and the man was so touching. The way the monkey clung to him, made those little \"love gurgles,\" and even introduced him to his wives was so human-like and emotional. He clearly didn't want to let go when it was time to say goodbye. | think people are often surprised by this kind of behavior because we're used to thinking of non-human primates as completely different from us, but moments like these show how emotionally and socially complex they really are. It challenges the way we see the line between humans and other primates. Thank you for reading, Dakota
