REFLECTIVE PRESENTATION -40%
It is expected that the team presentation will last around 20 minutes for a team of 4(5 minutes per team member)+ questions. It will take place on campus usually during the last timetabled class. The presentation will require each member of the team to:
1. critically evaluate its own individual experience of using Prince2 both as part of a project management team and clients team.
2. engage with the academic literature to investigate a specific topic in the field of contemporary project management in order to improve ones understanding of the field. You can decide on your project management topic later on in the module. This will need to be agreed with your tutor.
3. Answer questions asked by the tutor.
Although this is a team presentation, each member will be assessed individually.
The presentation will be assessed in accordance with your ability to:
Critically analyse your project management and client experience within the Prince2 framework,
Evidence that one can be a reflective practitioner,
Demonstrate engagement with the wider context (academic literature) of project management,
Present a range of sources and appropriate references to support the project management topic investigation.
Knowledgeably answer questions.
Note: You will be marked down if you go over your allocated time of 5 min per team member.
Note: You are expected to prepare and deliver a reflective presentation not a presentation that recall the work carried out during the module, there is a big difference between the two!
Lets start by defining what is not critical reflective work?
- It is not a conveyance of information, instruction or argument
- It is not a straight-forward description, though there may be descriptive elements;
- It is not a straight-forward decision e.g. about whether something is right or wrong;
- It is not a simple problem solving like recalling information (how to get somewhere)
Here are examples of enquiries that you might consider to trigger your preparation for the first part of the reflective presentation. Bear in mind that you will certainly have your own questions based on what you are doing / learning.
- Was our PID good enough to help us plan for this project?
- Have we omitted to take into consideration a key process of the PRINCE2 methodology?
- In hindsight, have we cost our project appropriately?
- Was the role of the senior supplier efficient?
- Was our executive involved appropriately throughout the project?
- Which academic papers on project management have helped me understand the project management further and in what way?
It is expected that each individual students reflective work will be very different from anyone elses as you will be experiencing the project from different angles (roles; tasks).
