Saratoga Center, a nursing facility established in 2017, due to a financial dispute the licensed owners were forced to give control and responsibility of the facility to unlicensed individuals. I'm not sure how this happened. But what we do know is that these new owners operated the nursing home from 2017 until 2021 without any licensing whatsoever. This, of course, means they operated fraudulently. Not only that, "the Settling Parties knowingly submitted or caused the submission of false claims for payment to Medicaid for worthless nursing services." The unlicensed individuals also failed to provide adequate services to its residents, according to the U.S. Government. The facility regularly did not provide hot water, clean linen, and some residents would develop pressure ulcers, just to name a few. The parties involved in the fraud have received anywhere from 9-20 years of exclusion from Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal aid programs. They also had to pay $7,168,000 in fees. I agree with the ruling. They were already unlicensed for one. The other ways they were negligent towards a very vulnerable population is just terrible.
