reply to post and ask a question.....

Good afternoon, Professor and Classmates.

As we have learned in combination with the last two week's of readings, Isaac Newton published three laws of motion: 1. A stationary body will stay stationary unless an external force is applied to it. 2. Force is equal to mass times acceleration, and a change in motion is proportional to the force applied. 3. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. (Biography.com 2014). These laws helped him develop his theory of gravity and arrive at his law of universal gravity stating two objects attract each other with a force of gravitational attraction that's proportional to their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers. This led to the accurate calculation of planetary orbits and their perspective masses.

Isaac Newton seemed to have many intellectual bouts with Robert Hooke about the mathematical proof of Hooke's theory about a planet's orbit around the son. Hooke claimed Newton plagiarized his data in his publishing of Principia even though Newton referenced Hooke in his notes, but later removed them from all publishing of Principia.

Regarding Gottfried Leibniz, he claimed to have discovered calculus before Principia was published, but a committee from the Royal Society which he was the president of found the allegations incorrect.

Isaac Newton is seen by many as the father of modern physics with the laws he founded to blaze the path for many physics applications today.
