I decided to watch and do my discussion on General Factoring. The video I chose was on Khan Academy, and was titled, "Factoring Completely with a Common Factor." The video explained just that! The video paused to try and let us factor the polynomial on our own, and then went on to explain how to factor with a common factor set-by-step. He has us find the greatest common factor of all the terms. In this case, it was "4." We then factor out the "4" from all the terms and simplify with the greatest common factor on the outside. Then the terms on the inside are factored out by finding 2 numbers that add up to the second term, and that also multiply to make the third term. We now have our answer! The most important piece of information I learned in this video is that the factored numbers should add up to be the second term, and multiply to be the third term. I do wish there was a little more explanation and review on that though. Maybe some trial and error in the video? The section in the video I am referring to was around 1:33. I guess the video made it seem too easy? I was a little confused, but was really happy he went through a few more examples so I could get used it. References: YouTube. (2019). YouTube.
