ConAgras old system seems like the hardware and software they implemented were outdated. This can cause a ripple affect as this is something most employers attempt to overlook. Whether this includes doing a work around to save money from buying a new system or having to outsource to expensive resources. As they continue to grow, ConAgra did not have the right technology in place to obtain maximum value from the talents and expertise of its salaried and hourly employees. A common problem for ConAgra was that it could not support companywide views for the HR department. They could possibly have a total meltdown if a server crashed or their hard drives went down. When companys move to a cloud environment it appears one huge factor is how much money can be saved to benefit the company in other ways. If they continue to try and keep the core system they will continue to lose the advantages of what a cloud system could do. With the number of employees, they currently have, imagine having a server running that amount of data located on site to maintain all the records, and to be able to access them quickly and correctly. This would cost an enormous amount of resources, but ConAgra made a great move by using the talent management system My Recipe. This allowed ConAgra to have all their information stored in one central, integrated cloud-based system. With moving to the My Recipe, they no longer face the challenges with analytics and reports. Reporting became more user and retrievable with this switch. Although there are numerous things that this new system can do, ConAgra made the right decision to move to a cloud based environment.
