The difference between institutionalized racism and individualistic racism, ststemic racism exists within institutions and orgganizations across society. It refers to discrimination and unequal treatment in a particular ethnic group. They are described as forms of racism which are found into political and social institutions. Individual racism refers to the individual's racist assumptions, beliefs, and behaviors that is based on their conscious and unconscious, personal prejudice. It is important for schools and corporate businesses to understand how bias affects your business because it is essential for having a fair and inclusive recruiting process and work environment. In the workplace, considering training programs helps reduce bias by increasing awareness and to do self-reflection work that talks about personal biases and learn to develop counter behaviors. As far as at schools, it is important to educate those on how bias can impact our actions, language, and practices in classrooms. The benefits of diversity on college campuses, from the article "At trial, Harvard Officials Explain Rejecting alternatives to Using Race in Admissions," two Harvard faculty members that testified they reviewed alternatives considering race in Harvard's underfraduate process, but concluded other measures would fail to maintain racial diversity. At the trial the lawsuit involved anti-affirmative action group accusing Harvard of discriminating against Asian-American applicants (Gerstein, 2018).
