Requirements

In this homework you will study the data visualization and analysis framework proposed by Dr. Tamara Munzner, a prominent data visualization researcher who won the 2015 IEEE VGTC Visualization Technical Achievement Award.

Write a long summary of Dr. Munzners talk. You may include pictures in the report, but the text should be at least 2 pages long.

a) The report should address (but are not limited to) the following points.

c) What are the main components of the proposed visualization and analysis framework?

d) Explain the What, Why, and How as discussed in this talk. What do they mean?

e) What is the classification of the data types?

f) What is the classification of actions?

g) What is the classification of encoding mechanisms?

h) What is the classification of interactions? It will be helpful to compare this with Dr. Shneidermans task classifications as referred to in homework 2. What are the differenes?

i) Explain the idioms discussed in this talk. What does it mean? Give some examples.

j) What new things have you learned from this talk?
