Hello Class and Dr. Covert,

I work in the automotive industry and during the end of the year the corporation is temporarily closed for 2 weeks.This is called winter holiday shut down and during this time most employees are off with pay.This allows inventory management which helps with maintenance, safety, cost savings, preparation for new vehicles in production and provides employees with a much-needed break which is good for morale and retention.

However, the dealerships are not closed and based on recent reporting, the numerical variables reflect customers are prone to make vehicle purchases due to discounts, rebates, financing deals, and other pricing programs. According to De (2019) descriptive statistics can be helpful as it relates to summarizing data in the form of simple quantitative measures such as percentages or means or in the form of visual summaries such as histograms and box plots.

If the variable had been structured as a nominal variable that classifies the data but does not have any specific order lacks the quantitate data.De (2019) found nominal variables are identified by category, which may only provide, car model, color, who is prone to buy but no information on how many vehicles are sold during winter shut down to explain the reason why the dealership should remain open during end of year holiday.Building on these insights, quantitative variable is more in line with numerical variable and has the ability to provide the data required for this study.
