Research Methodology Qualitative and Quantitative Techniques This research will use a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative techniques, which enables a thorough exploration of the research questions. (Creswell et al, 2018). The qualitative part will include semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, such as architects, developers, urban planners, and representatives from non-governmental organisations involved in affordable housing initiatives. This method is effective for gaining detailed insights into the challenges and successes of implementing sustainable design practices. (Kvale et. al, 2015). Additionally, case studies of existing affordable housing projects in Barbados will be conducted to compare different sustainable strategies and their outcomes. Online case studies will be reviewed by examining existing affordable housing projects in China and Jamaica through accessible online resources. Academic articles, government reports, and project documentation will be analysed to identify sustainable design strategies and best practices that can be compared to those in Barbados. The quantitative part of the research will involve distributing surveys to residents of affordable housing developments. This will help collect data on residents' satisfaction with the sustainable features of their homes and how they perceive the impact of these features on their quality of life.
