Research Situation: The staff at a mental health clinic wants to determine if their current form of short-term therapy substantially reduces depression. Prior to treatment, each patient completed the Acme Depression Inventory (ADI), which renders a score from 0 to 75 (0 = low depression, 75 = high depression). Patients were asked to complete the same instrument at the conclusion of their final appointment.
