Research Topic and 1st Article Summary

Now it is time to select a topic for your research project and find one relevant journal article related to your topic. This paper will describe your research topic, research hypothesis with operational definitions of variables to be studied, and a summary of one journal article associated with your topic. Your topic must relate to the field of Psychology. Ultimately, in your project, you will be using the survey method to explore a particular relationship between two variables which you will analyze with a t-test, ANOVA, correlation or regression analysis. In this assignment you must clearly operationalize your research variables and

detail your research hypothesis. What will be your predictor variable (often called an independent variable if experimentally manipulated but called a predictor variable when measured in naturally occurring situations when all extraneous variables are not controlled for) and what will be your criterion variable (often called the dependent variable if experimentally measured but named a criterion variable when assessed in correlational

studies). How do you predict your results will turn out. In the future, you will be creating or utilizing specific scales to assess your predictor variable and criterion variables.

In the second part of this assignment, you will begin to gather past research related to your research topic. To begin the literature review process, which is the start of any research project, you will find one relevant research article related to your topic. You should summarize this journal article and explain its relevance to your present investigation. Be sure to include a citation for the journal research article used. Review module 3.3 for information

about locating journal articles using the EBSCO Database (Psychology & Behavioral Sciences) from the LACC library and begin searching for articles on your research topic Your response should be typed and approximately 1 to 2 pages in length.
