Brittany's discussion,
The three items from the course I am taking with me are the utilization of Cash Budgets, the power of Compound Interest, and Investments in general. By utilizing more cash as opposed to straight plastic in my day-to-day transactions, I have found that I am much more aware and careful in how and what I spend my money on. The whole experience as a consumer somewhat shifts over time when doing so, and it provides me more of a sense of being in control. Transitioning into the realm of combining investments with the power of compound interest, I have slowly become increasingly aware of how simple investing works and how it can set me up for success in the long term. By combining simple day-to-day practices with these concepts, I can not only begin to invest for my retirement years but do so in a way where I feel more manageable in my weekly/monthly budgeting.
The most valuable skills I have taken away from this course are the simple day-to-day practices accompanying financial planning. This course has helped take some of these concepts from being somewhat foreign and confusing to being easy-to-understand principles that I can use and eventually pass along to my children later in life, which can ultimately result in raising the bar in terms of financial expectations and goals for my entire family.
