My name is Kyla Lenard; I am 32 years old, currently residing in Dallas, Texas. I am proud to be a USAF veteran and mother to my beautiful eight-year-old daughter, Legend. Academically, I have a bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management and a master's degree in Psychology from Ashford University. I also recently completed my MBA from Texas Woman's University. Enrolling in this PsyD program is a critical step in achieving my academic and career goals. Professionally, I aim to advance as an HR leader, leveraging psychological principles to enhance workplace practices and employee well-being. I aspire to teach at the collegiate level, where I can inspire and mentor emerging HR professionals.

In terms of research experience, I've explored both traditional and nontraditional methods, particularly in relation to well-being and illness. Traditional research has included academic writing and evidence-based evaluation of workplace interventions, while nontraditional research has involved informal employee wellness assessments, focus groups, and participation in mindfulness and yoga-based initiatives aimed at stress reduction. These experiences have deepened my understanding of how integrative practices can support mental health and resilience both inside and outside the workplace.

Understanding the efficacy and appropriateness of various practices is essential when incorporating them into health promotion programs. Not every intervention works universally, so it's important to evaluate both the evidence base and the contextual relevance of each approach. This ensures that wellness programs are inclusive, culturally competent, and genuinely beneficial to those they serve.

I plan to use the information learned in this course to expand my expertise in designing holistic employee wellness strategies that combine data-driven insights with compassionate, person-centered care. This knowledge will also support my aspirations to teach and consult on best practices for mental health promotion in organizational settings.
