I truly liked this section of history. I feel that Americans pride themselves on democratic heritage and ideals articulated by their seventh President, Andrew Jackson. President Jackson is considered a democratic symbol as he was the founder of the Democratic Party. He also transformed the presidency role from a chief administrator to a popular tribune which facilitated the expansion of executive powers. He was a key player in the push for the limited government in the Indian Removal Act which made his Presidency controversial.
President Jacksons time is truly and age of democracy as his actions and decisions were better connected than that of a monarch. He cared for the people of his country, and his personality was a mixture of boldness. Some researchers state that President Jackson divided the country on the Bank issue, however he supported individual liberty. He instituted several policies that would protect the all eligible members of the state. Although he refused to protect Indians treaty rights, he constantly renamed cabinet members, claiming efficiency and honestly as his main goal. I believe that although Andrew Jacksons time as president was controversial it increased patriotic pride as he was more concerned with the people of the country.
