RLMT 301: Can you respond to this? Make an open-ended question at the end.
Reverse Logistics encompasses all operations that are related to the upstream movement of products and different materials. It is the process of moving goods from their typical final destination for the purpose of capturing value, or proper disposal. The re manufacturing and refurbishing activities may also be included in the definition for Reverse Logistics.
The reverse logistics process includes the management and the sale of surplus, or excess, as well as returned equipment and machines from the hardware leasing business. Normally, logistics deal with events that would normally bring the product to the customer. Now, in the case of reverse logistics, the resource goes at least a step back in the supply chain. The goods would then go from the customer to the distributor, or to the manufacturer. When a consumer begins to return an item, the company must start the return procedure and follow the standard operating procedures, this includes the steps that the returned goods will undergo when they are taken back from customer possession and into the hands of the manufacturer or the distributor.
