Rothi and Mayfield signed a written contract which stated that Rothi would loan $10,000.00 to Mayfield to be repaid on or before May 31, 2010. Mayfield repaid the full amount of the money on June 28, 2010, so Rothi sued Mayfield for 28 days of interest at the legal rate on the $10,000.00. At trial, Mayfield wanted to testify that Rothi said, just before they signed the contract, that the money could be repaid as late as June 30, 2010, without any penalty.
