RULER IS NOT ALLOWED !
Required Materials: - A straight edge (you are not allowed to use a ruler until you make one). - 3x5 note cards (you may need quite a few depending upon your number of mistakes) - String - A sharp pencil or fine point pen (you may use more than one) - Scissors - tape (any type that does not have marks on it) - blank paper (may not be required but it could be useful depending upon how you work your way through the lab) - paperclip
Procedure Part A A 3 x 5 note is expected to measure 3 inches by 5 inches. That being the case, the dimensions for the length and width should have a 3 to 5 ratio in lengths no matter what the units are used to measure it. If you break the long side of the 3 x 5 note card into 10 equal size lengths and call it a ch (it is half an inch) then the short side of the 3 x 5 note card should be 6 ch long.
The first thing you need to do for part A is to find a way to verify that the ratio of the length of the sides is in fact 3 to 5.
The second thing you need to do is to take one of the 3 x 5 note cards and mark it off in a grid pattern with the dimensions of each square on the note card being 1 ch by 1 ch. (This should be done using the blank side of the 3 x 5 note card. You are not at any point in this lab allowed to use any lines drawn on the 3 x 5 note card for anything in this lab.)
How do I go about verifying the ratio then creating the 1 ch by 1 ch. note card?
