By choosing this fun and original activity, you will discover all the secrets of CAVA and its elaboration process. You wont just get to taste three cavas paired with the finest chocolates, but everyone will get to disgorge a bottle of cava, without forgetting a visit to the old farmhouse and all the old installations. Once you have selected the cava that you like the best from tasting, we will take you to the elaboration room, where with your own hands in a totally manual way you will disgorge your own bottle. Next you will put in the cork and finally put on the label. This will be your bottle of cava to keep, that you can take home and open whenever you want to remember the magical experience that you had at ArtCavayour host: Ramon (limit 8 people per visit, $75 per person fee booked through Airbnb)
| Your interview notes w/Ramon on how the Airbnb experience is designed to work: |
Ramon is looking for your help as a process improvement advisor in two stages: design the experience and then set an Airbnb account. The first process is researching how unique his offering is, what might be the typical fees he could charge, identify any local regulations (he will want to keep a copy of regs on hand) and evaluate any potential impact on neighbors. Secondly, he needs to apply to Airbnb. This requires reviewing their quality standards and then creating an experience page that we be hosted on the Airbnb site to attract customers. He expects to have some back and forth communication with Airbnb as to what type of listing might work best. Once complete, he will establish his Airbnb account, which will include directions how how Airbnb pays ArtCava (customer fee less Airbnb booking fee) ACH direct deposit (from Airbnb into his account) is the plan. He will also adjust his insurance policy for increased liability and property coverages. He will want to keep copies of his insurance and Airbnb listing in his files.

Once the design is complete, he is ready to start the booking phase. Each week his staff will post the dates on the Airbnb when they could host visitor groups. Word of mouth marketing is very important so Ramon will make sure to survey the customers at the end of their experience (after the cava sampling!) so he can monitor how to improve the process. Airbnb will remit payments the following day and Ramon will have his accountant reconcile weekly that the payments match the visitor count (the accountant will follow-up on any differences w Airbnb, with a cc to Ramon that includes a copy of the deposit slip and bank balance). Merchandise sales - -handled informally at the end of the tours by one of Ramons workers will be deposited at the end of the week. Each month, Ramon will access his system for a report of sales, cost of sales, weekly payroll, and bank balances.
| Your three tasks as Ramons business advisor: |
Make a lane diagram of the Phase one process (one pool, two lanes Artcava and Airbnb)you can do digitally (with one of the mapping tools discussed in class Visio, Smartdraw, Lucid Draw, Excel) or handwritten (as long as you can screenshot it to me via email). Often times, in the field, on a handwritten basis as part of our notes. (suggested time: 30 min)
Make a flowchart of the second phase only (e.g., use a Y/N symbol in the process as to whether things reconcile weekly and dont forget a legend!). This MUST be done with one of the mapping tools (I suggest drawing it by hand and then transferring it digitally). Think a little about design (colors, ) and dimensions of info
