Science is broken down into several levels including theory, observation, testing, the scientific method, and explanation. When it comes to modern conveniences such as medicines and technology, subjectivi would not benefit the development as much as objectivity would. Subjectivity is based on personal feelings and / or opinions which goes against the scientific method of replication, prediction, and falsification. Subjectivity is based more on an individual's personal experience or judgement and not testing or the data results from that testing. Objectivity is trying to understand something from a neutral perspective instead of relying on a single opinion or the first information that is provided. This aligns more with the scientific methods because it takes an individual's feelings and / or opinions out a focuses on the testing and the data. When it comes to the decisions I make day to day at work, I can see the importance of understanding objectivity and utilizing it instead of subjectivity. As a safety professional, an important aspect of my jo is to perform risk assessments to understand the probability and severity of a safety risk that a task ma have on an employee. When performing the risk assessment, I cannot use my personal opinions or feelings, I must utilize facts and date to ensure the assessment is accurate. If I allow my emotions or opinions to play a part in the assessment, the assessment will lose validity. The same applies when performing incident investigations. I must conduct investigations with a neutral mindset and collect the facts to get to the root cause. I cannot allow my emotions, nor the emotions of other employees, to be distraction from factual information
