Halco, Inc. Background Information Halco, Inc. is a medium-size construction company located in the City of Brydon. The company has been in business for about 16 years, and specializes in road construction/maintenance, structural construction such as highway overpass, as well as project management services of capital improvement projects. The City of Brydon is a fast-growing suburb outside a large metropolitan city that has about 2 million residents. In the last 10 years the population of Brydon has grown from 120,000 to about 160,000 and it is projected to grow up to 200,000 in the next 10 years. The County has allocated $85 million to the city as part of the County transportation infrastructure improvement program for the 2024/2025 fiscal year. As a result, the city plans to use some of the allocation to expand Haverhill Blvd. Haverhill Blvd. is a sixmile mile road that runs from the north end of City of Brydon to the edge of the metropolitan city, passing through the City's business district. For this capital improvement project, the city has allocated $42 million, from the total County allocation, for the project. Halco, Inc. has won the contract for this project. You have been appointed the project manager. Halco, Inc. Page 2 of 2 The Project The contract requires Halco, Inc. to expand Haverhill Blvd., for the six-mile length as follows: Widen Haverhill Blvd. from the current two lanes in each direction to four lanes in each direction for the whole six-mile length Include a center lane for the six-mile length Construct an over-pass on Haverhill Blvd. over Golf Club Road, maintaining the existing traffic pattern on Golf Club Road while blending them into the new expanded Haverhill Blvd. Update all traffic light signals at intersections along Haverhill Blvd. for the sixmile length, and blend the updated traffic lights with the traffic patterns on all intersections, that currently have traffic lights, along the newly expanded six-mile length Haverhill Blvd. Other Project information This capital improvement project is scheduled to start in October this year, and must be completed in 24 months by Fall of 2025
