Via the Web, the guest would enter card information, and personal preferences including specific room location, and the need for high speed Internet access etc. Upon arrival at the hotel there is a kiosk at the check-in lounge which prompts the guest to insert a credit card or frequent guest card. OCS decodes the card information, accesses the Reservation database and displays the previously Web-entered guests reservation and preferences. Upon the guests modification/confirmation of the data displayed, the system checks the hotels Customer Relationship Management System (CRMS) to determine if the guest is a preferential customer. The CRMS is not managed by Front Desk or other Check-In personnel. Once preferential status is determined, OCS communicates with the hotels Property Management System (PMS) for room accessibility and availability information. OCS then assigns a room based on the customers preferences and preferential status.
