Tumelo has just been appointed as a team member at the Lesotho Highlands Water Project and is

being introduced to the different areas and sections within the project. When arriving in the Risk

Management and Planning section the leaders explained to him that their role is to identify risks and

decide how best they can be handled. Katleho, one of the project team members, explains that their

role is to identify all possible risks that may occur in the Highlands Water Project and to manage

those appropriately. One of the team members tells Tumelo that just last week they found themselves

faced with an unexpected issue were an area of the dam walls showed signs of cracking. He

explained that as a team they are obligated to make appropriate decisions to manage the risks

associated with this issue and upon weighing out their options they opted for hiring an expert to

review the technical plans of the dam and to find ways of resolving the damage.
