Select a relatively simple equipment type, preferably an industrial machine. Examples are pumping units, generator sets, mixers, cranes, forklift trucks etc. Do an internet search and find a typical workshop manual or service guide for the selected machine. Create a MS Excel spreadsheet, named ASSET BREAKDOWN STRUCTURE and develop a suitable hardware breakdown structure for your selected asset. Study the workshop manual or service guide for your machine, and identify a typical preventive and a typical corrective maintenance task. Now create another tab on your Excel spreadsheet, called TASK PLANNING. Develop a full task plan for each of the two selected tasks. You can decide to have one list of parts required for the complete task, or one list for every activity $/$ step. If you have access to maintainers who has maintained your selected asset type, you are free to consult with them.
