The database is used to keep track of the units who march in the Fourth of July parade, along with the sponsors who support them.
For each unit, the database records the unit's name and information about what the unit does as their act during the parade. Some units consist of many people. For those units, the database also records the number of people in the unit, and the name of the person who is in charge of organizing the unit. For units that consist of only 1 person, the database records the person's actual name (which is usually different from the UnitName).
Each unit may be associated with one sponsor. Information about the sponsor includes the name of the sponsoring organization and the name and phone number of the sponsor's contact person. Some sponsors are very generous, and support more than one unit. Sponsor information isn't entered into the database unless they have committed to sponsor at least 1 unit.
For example, the High School Marching Band is sponsored by the High School Music Club. The Band has 30 members, and they will march and play music. The band director is in charge of organizing the group. The Music Club provided the Band's t-shirts.
Another unit is Charlie the Clown, who makes balloon sculptures as he walks along. His real name is Alex Forbes -- he doesn't have a sponsor.
